Discover a
wide range of artworks by a Russian wildlife artist Alexey Komarov, who is
known for his paintings, sculptures, books and scientific treatises illustrations,
as well as propaganda posters for the USSR.
As a representative of national-romanticism
school of Russian animalistic art Komarov devoted most of his artworks to
Russian nature and animals, some of which were commissioned by the founder of
Darwin Museum – Alexander Kohts. Komarov liked working at the museum, which “…was
very convenient - big windows and a lot of sunlight, quiet… any animal or bird
is right here, at hand, when needed for a painting, as well as experienced
specialists in biology available for any question and professional advice…”.
During his years at Darwin museum he produced 185 paintings of animals and
birds, as well as illustrated scientific, fiction and children’s books.
