The exhibition engages viewers in conversation with the writer Konstantin Georgievich Paustovsky about the problem of interaction between man and nature and about people's treatment to forests, rivers, lakes and all living things that dwell in them. At this exhibition the writer is presented as a connoisseur of works of the famous scientists - geologists, soil scientists, botanists, zoologists. Among them you will see him too, but as a professional ecologist and a "master" of environmental education.

The exhibition introduces the main stages of the creative development of Paustovsky, his scientific interests and numerous trips to various unique natural regions of the USSR. The main part of the exhibition is the works of Paustovsky written in the first five-year plans of Soviet power, at the time when global projects to transform nature were born and implemented. In the early 1930s the writer responded to the call of A.M. Gorky to create a series of books "The History of Factories and Plants" and as a journalist he traveled a lot around the country and made trips to the south - to Poti, Baku, Mingrelia, to the Caspian Sea and to the north to Karelia. Based on the impressions from these trips and dedicated to these places, the novels were born, such as: «Kara-Bogaz» (1932), «Colchis» (1934), «Captain Gernet's Theory» (1933).

One of the sections of the exhibition is dedicated to the forest, which is the main environmental theme in the writer's work. Paustovsky studied the problem of the disappearance and restoration of forest tracts deeply. In “The Tale of Forests” (1948) he writes a lot about the importance of the forest in the life of the planet and human and knowledgeably lists the natural disasters that destruction of forests entails: “It is impossible to list all the disasters that the destruction of forests brings. If you knew about them, then you probably would not have raised your hand even to break a branch of blossoming linden for a bouquet”.

The exhibits include rare author's photographs of Paustovsky, manuscripts, documents, personal items from the collection of the Museum of K.G. Paustovsky, works of animalistic and taxidermic art from the collection of the Darwin Museum, as well as photographic landscapes provided by Meshchyorsky National Park.
