Location: Exhibition complex / 5th floor / Open roof
With the
onset of warm sunny days we open the Roof - an open-air art space and at the
same time, a place to relax from the city bustle. On April 30 we open the
exhibition and the research project “Moscow. Habitat” whose participants will
offer an original interpretation of the interaction between living organisms
and the big city. The roof space will be decorated with works of artists in
various genres: realism, painting, sculpture, graffiti, street art,
calligraphy, installations.
From April
30 to September 11 the art space "Roof" of the State Darwin Museum
will hold the exhibition and the research project "Moscow. Habitat”. It
involves exploration and rethinking of the urban environment as a specific
matter, which is a necessary and important condition for the life of all living
beings in the metropolis.
The project
can be called scientific-experimental, because the museum conducts it in
collaboration with independent creative teams engaged in street art: Studio 7
and Desarte 365.
The
exhibition will be unfold on the most unusual outdoor exhibition area – the
museum roof with the view of the city, comfortable poufs, bookcrossing area and
free Wi-Fi.
The
exhibition involves the participance of more than 30 artists, who have
responded to the open-call and have offered the most original interpretations
which passed a strict jury selection. A deeper immersion in the topic of
interaction between human and nature has been provided by creative laboratories
including excursions, meetings with scientists, ecologists, artists, and
specialists from other fields. For three weeks the artists attended special
events in many Moscow institutions.
In short
terms the artists are preparing to create a common exposition and offer the
audience an original interpretation of the interaction between living organisms
and the big city. The exhibition will feature works in various genres: realism,
painting, graffiti, street art, calligraphy. Visitors will be able to see works
exhibited on canvases, banners, plywood, as well as to enjoy installations,
sculpture and hanging figures.
The
parallel program of the project includes master classes, live drawing, lectures
on art, concerts, events aimed at sports and self-development for visitors of
all ages - children, youth, adults.
