On May 24,
the solemn event “The Great Tea Road – Dialogue of Civilizations” took place at
the Chinese Cultural Center.
Employees
of the Darwin Museum Alexandra Selezneva and Marina Galich took part in this
significant event dedicated to the culture of Yunnan province, as well as
international relations between the Russian Federation and the People's
Republic of China.
The photo
exhibition “Tea and the World of Yunnan” aroused great interest, introducing
visitors to the wondrous and unique beauty of the province of Yunnan, which
means “cloudy south”. Its natural resources are amazing and varied - paradises
with rare and unique species of flora and fauna; vast protected areas with
beautiful rivers, lakes, waterfalls; largest tea plantations. It is here that
the ancient homeland of tea trees is located. Pu-erh teas are best known, but
many other types are also grown. At the tea ceremony, which took place in the
exhibition space, one could taste and evaluate the tastes of different types of
tea.
Master
classes on processing and dyeing fabrics and applying patterns were also held
here. Handmade items of clothing made by talented craftsmen - embroidered folk
costumes, belts, hats, and jewelry - attracted a lot of attention.
At the
opening ceremony, Minister-Counselor Feng Litao sincerely and warmly welcomed
the assembled guests and expressed hope that the stated theme, namely “The
Great Tea Road,” could truly become a constructive “dialogue of civilizations”
that would promote unity, mutual understanding, and cooperation between
countries.
A fun
lottery with drawings and memorable prizes, bright and fiery traditional songs
and dances performed by the creative team of the peoples of this province made
it possible to see the vibrant and unique culture of the peoples of China, to
understand its originality and uniqueness.
At the end
of the program, all participants of the event took photographs.
